Berry Street Education Model

Berry Street Education Model

Anglesea Primary School is currently completing the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) training.  The BSEM is an educator-designed and evidence-led framework that empowers schools to create classrooms where every student is ready to learn and able to thrive.  The five domains of the BSEM connect with child development capacities that each student must build in order to be ‘Ready to Learn’.  When teachers are planning how to best meet the needs of our students, they focus on building self-regulation skills, relational capacity and nurture willingness to engage in learning. These five domains are listed below.

Using a whole school approach to education, the BSEM provides proven strategies for teachers to implement in the learning community. It empowers and equips educators to help all students succeed.  By increasing the engagement of students with complex, unmet learning needs and successfully improve all students’ self-regulation, relationships, wellbeing, growth and academic achievement with teaching strategies that incorporate trauma-informed teaching, positive education, and wellbeing practices.
